VA DISABILITY CLAIMS
How can we help with your VA disability claim?
At MedEx Consulting, we specialize in helping veterans navigate the VA disability claims process by providing medical examinations to complete Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs) and NEXUS Letters. Our goal is to ensure that veterans receive the benefits they rightfully deserve by offering clear, evidence-based medical documentation to support their claims.
A DBQ is a standardized VA form used to document medical conditions in a way that aligns with the VA’s rating system. The VA provides DBQs for various body systems and medical conditions at: https://www.benefits.va.gov/compensation/dbq_publicdbqs.asp
A NEXUS Letter can be a critical document that links a veteran’s medical condition to their military service. This letter is written by a medical expert and provides a professional opinion on whether a disability is “more likely than not” related to service. This can especially be important when your medical condition is not clearly related to your service based on your medical records alone.
Why use MedEx to help with your VA claim?
Veteran Owned and Operated - We understand the VA process because we’ve gone through it ourselves. We know exactly what causes claims to be denied or require multiple appeals due to missing information. We’ll strengthen your claim so it’s rated correctly the first time.
We listen - We are not a massive company churning out cookie-cutter reports. You will work only with Dr. Cygan throughout the entire process including initial consultation to determine if and how we can help you. If we do not believe your VA claim will be strengthened by our services, we will tell you. We know that every Veteran is different and each claim requires attention to detail and a comprehensive understanding of your story.
Affordable - We do not perform this work for free. DBQs and NEXUS Letters can require hours of medical records review and crafting of language to make your claim as strong as possible. However, our prices are substantially below most companies who perform this type of work and believe our services are better. If you are a Veteran in financial hardship, please inform us of your circumstances.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to submit a DBQ and/or NEXUS Letter with my VA claim?
No, you do not need to include these in a VA disability claim. These help strengthen your claim and provide the VA with the exact information they need to determine an accurate and faster disability rating. DBQs help avoid appeals or delays in the processing of your claim due to missing information in your medical records. NEXUS Letters are often unnecessary if a medical condition is clearly tied to your medical service and already supported by your service treatment records. However, if your condition was not diagnosed until after your service, a NEXUS Letter is essential to supporting how it is related to your prior service.
Does MedEx Consulting submit my VA claim for me?
No, we do not assist with submitting your VA claim. We only provide additional medical documentation to be submitted with your claim to increase your likelihood of success. Many “consulting” companies exist that submit claims on behalf of veterans without strengthening their claim and charging excessive fees. If you need help submitting your claim, we recommend working with your local VFW which can provide excellent help for FREE!
Can you help me even if I don’t live in or near South Carolina?
Yes, NEXUS Letters can be written without performing a physical examination. Some DBQs can be completed over Zoom or other internet video options, however, many musculoskeletal conditions require in-person examinations.
Is your goal to get me a 100% VA disability rating?
No! We are trying to get you the most accurate rating. If your condition should be rated at 10%, we will be honest and explain why 10% is appropriate. We will not exaggerate physical examination findings or deceive the VA in the severity of your medical conditions. If you are not honest and truthful with us, we will not work with you. As we are Veteran owned and operated, we support our Veteran community in an ethical manner.
